Christmas Music

It's coming to that time of year again, which means: I have to do some sort of Christmas CD. I'm thinking about calling this one "The Religious Side of Christmas" because we don't get enough Christianity in Christmas anymore. There will be two parts: English and French. I may include a third (Russian) part. Right now, all I have are the French translations (that I did myself) of God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen (Dieu Vous Repose, Gentilshommes) and The Twelve Days of Christmas (Les Douze Jours de Noël), which I found out might have been used to help young Catholics learn their faith.

I actually thought it up a few weeks ago, but I'm posting about it now. It's a piano piece called "Let Me". I want to include it as a sort of bonus track on the album.

I was listening to some French music the other day ("(Je suis) Jalouse" and "L'autre bout du monde" by Emily Loizeau and "Ce que je suis" by Holden). It inspired me to redo the lyrics I had written for C'est Gâché. Here's what I have right now with my own translation.

I'm so proud of myself! Right as we speak, I'm trying to write the second verse. Exciting, I know. Things are gonna start speeding up a little. I just wanna write, write, write. And if I don't have time, whatever is in my way will have to wait.

I got a little farther in the lyrics for Brand New Way, but not far enough to post them on here. There's not much happening musically on my part, and it's mostly because of my unconscious refusal to adjust to High School. The work is becoming a bit overwhelming. I don't know how much I'll be able to juggle anymore, but I'm happy that I'm giving myself more time to finish this album than I've given myself for other albums in the past.

I am really itching to write. I just need to find time to sit down and let it happen.

I wrote down the song titles of 8-11 yesterday when I was kind of mad, so they might just be rants that I won't take seriously.

Updates

Just got back from a Mission Trip to New Orleans. It was an eye-opener, how forgotten these people have become.

So, I've found a direction/theme for the next album. More about exclusion. Experiences I've had over the past few months, and well, also in school, have instigated this idea.

New song idea. It's right now called "Inside My Circle", referring to exclusion and clique-like tendencies, even in places meant to be safe from them. Right now, I want the arrangement to have a lullaby-sound, though will be contradicted with piercing and, grouped with the arrangement, sarcastic lyrics. Though, the sarcasm will only be detected in the conflicting arrangement/lyrics. The lyrics will actually be veiled more in concern than resentment. I only have the first two lines:

New Album Idea

called "Never WANTED to See You". I'm going to take things little slower and only work on one album my Freshman year. Right now, I want it to have 15 full tracks.

I finished it yesterday!
...I don't really have a name for it. I've decided calling it "05 New Song", because I have NO IDEA what else to call it. I mean, I might think of something, but maybe not. And this title works because it is a new song and will be Track 5.

Variety Show Tomorrow:

I will be singing a shortened version of my song 'Will I Fall? (ALS)' from "Reconstruction". It's not the arrangement I wanted to go with, so tomorrow after the show, I'll post the original on MySpace. But the Variety Show will still be awesome!

Just finished it!!! It's a little raw, but like a lot of the songs, it'll probably grow on me; so I'll keep it the same for now.

I'm working on "There is No Closet" and "Raise Me Down" right now. Also, "Heard". Sorry to tell you, but I might be cutting "Pressure" for another song in the works. I have no idea what it's called. I just have lyrics. I feel that this new song would fit more into the CD than "Pressure" does. But I'm not certain. It's simply a possibility.

This week hasn't been the best for me. Sore throat Wednesday. Even more sore Thursday. Friday, it turns into a cold. Saturday, it slowly gets better. Sunday, praying that it's gone because I have a recital I have to sing at. The practice today went okay. I was fine on "Seasons of Love", but my song is a bit of a mess. It's mostly me straining because of the cold, so it does not sound fantastic as it should. I don't know. Okay, tracklist!:

I think I might be scrapping the song. It just doesn't fit with the theme/feel of TheDangerZone. I don't want songs about peer pressure and procrastination! I want something deep!

Why Them?

I finished it today!!! I can't go into too much detail (or give you the song), but I can tell you some things.

There's more guitar, strings, and drums. I still can't really play the guitar...or the drums (since I don't have any drums), but it's really cool. I surprised myself.
There's this part in the middle that kind of makes the song drop. It's really cool, but a little rough. I'm contemplating revisiting that part. But that'll be in the final stages. Right now, I'm just trying to finish songs.

I think I can finish Why Them? by the end of the week, as long as I finish writing the lyrics. Since testing is next week, I could probably finish Pressure. There Is No Closet and Raise Me Down will take a little longer because they have guitar parts and I'm not sure how I want to tackle those yet.

a) use a VITA Guitar (computer) - already using one, so I want to have a real one
b) play the parts myself - I can't play the guitar very well!
c) find someone to play the parts for me and then credit them in the liner notes

Maybe tomorrow, if I talk myself into it, I'll bring my video camera into the garage and make a little music video for Reconstruction. I don't have the whole idea planned out yet, but it's a possibility. Now, I'm going to bed! (11:03) Stayed up doing Algebra make up work.

I just finished NightYear! That took a long time because the file was really large, so my program would lock up if I did any little thing. Trying to export as just a WAV was nightmare! Anyway, I finally got it down to my liking. It's a little raw and takes a little getting used to, but I think you'll like it.

NIghtYear

Almost finished with it. I just need to finish writing the lyrics (because I've crossed out a lot) and recording the vocals.
...Okay, so maybe I'm not that far, but cut me some slack! Science is just draining me right now. Hopefully tonight, I can write a little, but I have to wake up at 8:30 tomorrow, so I don't see that happening.

Okay, I'm going to bed because I am wiped out. I'll try to post tomorrow with more updates, because you can bet there are some!

New Song Ideas and Stuff

Ok, so you all know I'm famous for going from one thing to the next just like "that". Well, this makes no difference!

I'm going to step away from "NightYear", just for a while. I'll get back to it. Right now, I'm aiming towards more rock-oriented compositions (that won't require me to have to try to play them on guitar!). Plus, I need to write more! I feel extremely unprepared, and you can imagine how that feels. Think of it like this: Since my recording studio is my room, I am working all the time. I make all the rules and goals (and I also pay myself to rent my own room out for a few hours!), and I am becoming dictator of myself. That's not good, because then anything I try to make will sound bad.
And now that you don't care anymore, I'm going to stop stressing out and write. Goodnight and have a pleasant (not tomorrow SNL fans!) Ice Day!

Space Fillers

Just finishing it up As I Type. There's this bridge in the end that I don't know whether I'm going to keep or not.

...I just listened to it. I guess I'll keep it in, even though it's a little weak. Well, that's 3 down, 11 more to go!

Now, this is present me. I might be scrapping T.Y.R.-rany and Don't Want to Be. The only thing keeping me from doing it now is that they both have a little potential. I'm definitely going to finish the former and save it for another time, but I don't know about the latter. It might be a lost cause.
I've also been working on a song called "Space Fillers". I'm planning to include it on the album, but right now the song's a little on the weak side, so I might not go through with it. I'm also toying with an all-vocal song (think "Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap) called "Nightyear". There is also a song in the works of being written called "Raise Me Down". Lots going on, but not much progress being made.

New EP in the making: Covers

Progress for Только Дурной Сон has been Post-Poned. I want to study more of the Russian language before I dive in to a whole Russian album. I have to say, Опасная Зона shows my mediocrity in Russian! Instead, I'm changing the date to sometime next year!

I have decided that TheDangerZone Part2, still going to be released in March next year (hopefully), will have more songs since I will have more time than I had in TheDangerZone! That means, you can expect a lot more from me!

I think I'm gonna finish the self-titled album that got destroyed a year ago! It has "Back Off!" on it.

My summer album's gonna be called "The One Where I Make Fun Of You!". It's inspired by "Nothing (TheRantSong)" from Population: ME! It's gonna be fun and offensive at the same time.

Only 5 more songs 'til I'm finished with "TheDangerZone Part2"! Hopefully I can release it by the end of March, with a single that I want to sing for the TalentShow. If all else fails, I'll just sing "Twisted". After this album's done, I get get to focus only on "The One Where I Make Fun of You"... and possibly a self-titled album, but I'm having doubts about that one. I really want it to be funny, you know? "Population: ME!" had that bite-me attitude. I want this to be a real shocker!

I've decided that the "So Called Friends" album probably won't happen. Instead, I will be coming out with an album called "Reconstruction." But don't worry! It'll have a lot of the same songs as planned on "So Called Friends."

Still working on the albums. I have finished one song for "Reconstruction": I'm Not Sorry. It has this really cool string part in it. I'm really excited! I also finished a song for the Christmas album. It's called "Il est né, le divin enfant" (He is risen, the divine child). Progress is a little slow, so sorry!

Track list got changed a little. Instead of 10, there'll be 8 or 7. I just don't want to overload myself since I'm in Honor Band and the school play now.

Remember that song I mentioned in November, "Too Destructive"?. Well, I wrote lyrics for it and finished recording it today. I've decided to make it the intro to TheDangerZone Part3 because it's not a full song (to me), but the other intro I had just didn't fit as much as this song did. Plus, it sounds really cool, played forwards or backwards! Seriously!
I think this track and "Plastic People" really show how I've changed and moved more into professional-sounding music! go me.

I would post the songs on here, but everything's going to be secret (except for the tracklist) until the release. And since I'm the only one, the secret will be successfully kept.
